Glasco Sun, May 25, 1916, page 2: Ethel May Pitts was born March 3, 1890, and passed from this life at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clint Pitts, living 8 miles south and west of Concordia, Wednesday, May 10, 1916, at 11:30 a.m., at the age of 26 years, 2 months and 9 days. She had been in poor health for some time but some few days ago her health became so poorly that it was thought advisable to take her to Kansas City for medical aid, but she grew worse so fast that it was decided to perform an operation here. Dr. Clendening of Kansas City, who is a partner of Dr. Outland, was called and he with the assistance of Dr. Coffey of Concordia, performed the operation. Great encouragement was given for her recovery and symptoms pointed that way until one week ago last Thursday she took a change for the worse and rapidly grew worse until the end came. She was married to Will Skeels of Concordia, November 13, 1910, and the greater part of their married life their home has been made in Concordia. To this union two children were born, one dying in infancy, the other one, Dewain, is a bright little boy of nearly two years of age. She has left behind to mourn her loss a kind and loving husband and little child, a father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Clint Pitts, one sister, Mrs. Erma Jordan of near Glasco, and two brothers, Eura R. and Otto W. of this vicinity, a number of relatives and a host of loving friends. A large crowd of relatives and friends attended the funeral service which was held at the Pitts home at 1 o'clock Friday, May 12, and conducted by a relative, Rev. F.E. Shrivers, of Formosa, Kansas. The remains were laid to rest in the Macyville cemetery there to await the great resurrection morning.
