February 20, 1892 and entered eternal rest at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Leland Smith, on April 21, 1957, at the age of 65 years, 2 months and 1 day. Her mother passed away when she was four years old, and she moved to the St. Edward community with her father and paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. George Yetter, in whose home she spent a good part of her early life. She resided in this community until her death, except for one year that she spent in Boulder, Colo. On January 1, 1917, she was united in marriage to Ivan L. Stephens at the Methodist parsonage in St. Edward. To this union were born six children, four daughters and two sons. She is survived by her husband, four daughters, Mrs. Arnold Mahoney (Iola), Mrs. Paul Cahill (Roberta), Mrs. Warren Miller (Jean), Mrs. Leland Smith (Fern), and one son, Earl, and sixteen grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son in infancy. She gave her life to Christ as a very young girl and remained his faithful servant until the end. Her life was dedicated to helping others. She was a loyal and devoted wife, a loving mother and the kindest of neighbors. No task was too great for her, no request too small. She gave freely of herself to make the world a happier place for those she loved. Bert A. Bessire. Mrs. Hazel Condreay and Mrs. Merrell Willard sang "In the Garden" and "Beyond the Sunset." Mrs. Fay Smith accompanied on the piano. Pallbearers were Lewis Wilson, Gerald McIntosh, Wayne Baker, Harold Denman, Gilbert Johnson and Dave Johnson. Interment was made in Evergreen cemetery. Relatives and friends attending were from Clarks, Council Bluffs, Blair, Silver Creek, Columbus, Rising City, David City, Davenport, Hastings, Albion and Carleton.
