MARRIAGE ANNOUNCEMENT Lancaster Eagle-Gazette, Lancaster, Ohio, Tuesday, 7 Jul 1942, Page 4 Marriage This Morning Is Of Wide Interest A marriage which is of wide interest to relatives and friends of the young couple, was solemnized today, when Miss Edna Marie Shinkle became the bride of Mr. Arthur Eugene Thimmes. Miss Shinkle and Mr. Thimmes repeated their marriage vows to the Rev. William J. Riley, early this morning, in the Parish House of St. Mary's Church, High st. at Chestnut Hill. Mrs. Hugh Thimmes was the bride's matron of honor and sole attendant. Mr, Hugh Thimmes served his brother as best man. For her marriage Miss Shinkle wore a smart suit of ice-blue faille, with felt hat in matching shade, and a white silk blouse. Pinned to the lapel of her coat was an all-white orchid. For this occasion, Mrs. Thimmes chose a printed white silk jersey frock, with which, she combined white accessories, and a corsage of gardenias. The bride of today, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Shinkle, 147 East Fifth ave. is a graduate of Ohio University, and a former faculty member at East School. For the past year she has served on the faculty alternately, of North and South schools. Mr. Thimmes, the oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Leo Thimmes, 133 South High st. is associated with his brothers in the Leo Thimmes Sons' Company on South Broad st. Immediately following the ceremony, the new Mr. and Mrs. Thimmes were off on a brief wedding trip. Upon their return they will be established in an attractively furnished residence at 800 North Mt. Pleasant avenue. _________________________________________________ OBITUARY Lancaster Eagle-Gazette, Lancaster, Ohio, Friday, 13 Jun 1958, Page 2 Eugene Thimmes, 56 of 800 N. Mt. Pleasant Ave., died yesterday of a heart condition. He had been admitted yesterday morning to Mt. Carmel Hospital, Columbus, and died at 3:30 p.m. Mr. Thimmes was one of the owners of Leo Thimmes Sons Market, S. Broad St. Surviving are his wife, Edna; three brothers, Raymond, Hugh, and Leo Thimmes, Jr., all of Lancaster; and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Thimmes, Sr., Lancaster. Thimmes was a member of the Holy Name Society of St. Mary Church and the Lancaster Council, No. 1016, Knights of Columbus. The K. of C. and Holy Name Society rosary will be at the Sheridan Funeral Home Sunday at 8 p.m. Friends may call at Sheridan's after 4 p.m. Saturday.
