Description	:	Evelyn passed away peaceably surrounded by her family on February 11, 2010. Her presence will be greatly missed by all that knew her.She was a native of Ferndale. She was born to John and Maria Martin on June 12, 1924. She married Ed Giacomini on October 28, 1944. Evelyn was a proud mother of three sons. She worked many years in Ferndale at Golden State Creamery, Lees Locker, and later at the Ferndale Library. She was a good cook - nothing was ever thrown away. She took pride in the fact that all three of her sons became good cooks.... Read More	Evelyn passed away peaceably surrounded by her family on February 11, 2010. Her presence will be greatly missed by all that knew her.She was a native of Ferndale. She was born to John and Maria Martin on June 12, 1924. She married Ed Giacomini on October 28, 1944. Evelyn was a proud mother of three sons. She worked many years in Ferndale at Golden State Creamery, Lees Locker, and later at the Ferndale Library. She was a good cook - nothing was ever thrown away. She took pride in the fact that all three of her sons became good cooks. She was a master canner and enjoyed Teaching her daughters-in-law. Many enjoyable days were spent canning and making Portuguese sweet bread She especially enjoyed time with her grand chi1dren and was very proud of each one of them, Evelyn was an avid fisher woman - and she could tell some amazing fishing stories. She had a love for all animals, especially her dog missy. Evelyn enjoyed her many friends and was always at the center of any get together. She is survived by her brother Tony Martin and wife Marguerite and brother- in-law. Van Smith. She also leaves three sons - Mike and his wife Vicky of Fortuna, Cliff and his wifc Dorothy of Fortuna, and Gary and his wife Alonna of Bishop. She leaves six grandchildren - Zeb Giacomini and his wife Kalee, Amy Giacomini, Sherry Giacomini, Maria Kemp and her husband Matt, Cristina Giacomini and her fiancee Shade Hughes of Ducor, Joe Giacomini, and 2 great grandchildren Koral Giaconini and Will Kemp. She leaves adopted family- Joe and Anna Toste and their children as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, brother and sister in-laws, and other family members. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years Ed Giacomini, her parents John and Maria Martin, sisters Mary Toste, Gertrude Smith, Emily Lema, and brothers John and Joseph Martin. The family would like to specially thank Dr. Han of Fortuna, Ladies Choice of Fortuna, Fortuna Adult Day Health, Seaview Convalescent, Hospice of Humboldt, and all the nurses and staff that helped make Evelyn's final days better. Friends are invited to gather for the recitation of the Rosary on Friday, February 19, 2010 at 7:00 PM at Goble's Fortuna Mortuary, 560 12th Street, Fortuna. A Memorial Mass will be said on Saturday, February 20, 2010 at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 14th and N Streets in Fortuna. Inurnment will follow at the Sunrise Cemetery, Fortuna. Arrangements under the direction of Goble's Fortuna Mortuary. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the charity of your choice.
