Jack McAlister, passed away Wednesday, December 16, 2020, at her home. Born in Pickens County, she was the daughter of the late James Luther and Emma Tallie Gillespie Whitlock. Mrs. McAlister worked as a LPN at Anderson Memorial Hospital for 20 years and later worked in the library at Anderson College. She served as organist and pianist at Six & Twenty Baptist Church for many years. She wrote and published poetry, was an avid reader and read her Bible daily. She... Airy Baptist Church. She is survived by her son, Rev. Philip McAlister and wife, Pam; her daughter, Teresa McAlister Gunn and husband, Robert; her grandson, Nathan Brown and wife, Ashley; her two great-grandchildren, Dustin and Mallory Kate Brown; sister, Sarah Perry; and brother, Harold Whitlock. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by seven siblings. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, December 18, at Mt. Airy Baptist Church conducted by Dr. Keith Shorter. A private family burial will follow the service at Flat Rock Baptist Church Cemetery.
