Died January 21, 1926, at his home near Glasco, Kansas, aged 78 years 5 months and 20 days. When sixteen years of age he moved with his brother, Garrett, in Fulton County, Ill. He enlisted in Company C 151st Regiment, Ill. Inf. where he served his country until the close of the war. He came to Kansas in the fall of 1869. The following spring was married to Anna Franks. That fall they selected a homestead where they reared their family and lived until the time of his death, a continuous residence of nearly fifty-six years. Mr. Davidson was at the time of his death the only resident of the community who still resided on his original homestead. He was a typical frontiersman, fond of the hunt and his rifle was the means of bringing in the needed supplies during the strenuous pioneer days. He leaves to mourn his death, his wife, three sons, W.A., L.F., and J.M., and one daughter Retta, all of Glasco, also nine grandchildren. He never lost his boyish heart until he was injured in a fall four years ago, he was ready for any game the young folks enjoyed and was a worthy adversary for any of the younger players. He will be sadly missed. His friendships extended far in every direction; he was a loyal friend, a kind and sympathizing neighbor. His home was always open, both to his friends and to any in need. Some of the most pleasant memories of the older residents of the community center in the Davidson home. He lived the sentiment so aptly expressed by Elbert Hubbard: We will not be here forever, anyway soon, Death, the kind old nurse will come and rock us all to sleep, and we had better help one another while we can; we are going the same way; let us go hand in hand. You help me and I will help you. Funeral services were held at the home Saturday afternoon conducted by Rev. Rollyn Kaiser at Beloit and interment was in Glasco cemetery. Davidson (1847-1926) by Cy Schmidt, sent by Find A Grave contributor Vickie (This additional info was included) As a "frontiersman," E.C. was "fond of the hunt" and brought in a lot of game for the pot, including buffalo, antelope, wild turkeys, and flocks of prairie chicken and quail. He kept "a kennel of dogs for this pastime" of hunting. He was also celebrated as an excellent farmer and stockman, raising fields of wheat and alfalfa and maintaining a herd of one hundred and fifty head of Short Horn cattle. In 1901 he had constructed "one of the most perfectly planned feeding barns" in the area. On January 21, 1926, at 78 years of age, E.C. Davidson died at his Glasco farm home.
