Soon after the father's death Ezra, his mother and two sisters moved from NY state to Ontario. On Aug. 8, 1833 she married Rev. Ezra Adams, a widower, in Grimsby, Ontario (formerly in Lincoln County in the Niagara region). It is not known where Ezra Curtis met his wife, Thankful Winchester, but they were married July 12, 1848 in Perry, Lake County, OH. They lived for a short time in Drayton, Ont. It is not known where Ezra Curtis met his wife, Thankful Winchester, but they were married July 12, 1848 in Perry, Lake County, OH. They lived for a short time in Drayton, Ont. where his mother, step-father and sister lived. Their first child was born there. After Ezra's sister's death in 1850, they left Ontario and moved to Huron County, Ohio where their next four children were born. By 1880 they were living just east of Milan in Erie County, Ohio. Children - five daughters: (1) Olive Rebecca Curtis (July 8, 1849- June 25, 1870) married John Wesley Whidden (Mar.7,1843-Feb.18,1923) on Dec. 10, 1868. No known children (2) Mary Elizabeth Curtis (Aug. 9, 1851- Feb. 2, 1935) married John Wesley Whidden (Mar. 7, 1843-Feb. 18, 1923) widower of her older sister (see above). They had eight children. (3) Xavia Viola Curtis (Mar. 13, 1854- July 28, 1889) married Charles Breckenridge Fish (Sept. 30, 1846-Mar. 29, 1888). They had two daughters, Anna Retta (Jan. 25, 1877- Sept. 4, 1933) who married Joseph Michael Hendricks; and Della F. (4) Alzina A. Curtis (Nov. 7, 1858- Dec. 23, 1934) married John M. Hoak in 1878. Their five children were: Marie (Dec. 19, 1878-1880s); Ione (Oct. 9, 1880-Mar. 12, 1962) wife of Wm. John Fauser (1876-1959); Lynn (Oct. 11, 1883-May 21, 1963) husband of Helen Kriss (1885-1971); Sylvia Etta (Nov. 20, 1888- ) wife of Roy Ernest Harvey (div.); and Ines Frances (Dec. 27, 1890-May 3, 1945) unmarried. (5) Anna R. Curtis (May 25, 1866-June 24, 1936) married Ancil G. O'Dell (Aug. 1869- Feb. 4, 1939). They had no children of their own but adopted a son, Robert A. (b. Feb. 16, 1908). OBIT - "Sandusky Register" Nov. 15, 1900, (under WEST BERLIN column) "Mr. E.D. Curtis, who died on Monday at Petersburg of paralysis, was interred in Petersburg cemetery on Thursday at 2 p.m. Rev. George Bartlett of Page's Corners officiated. Ezra D. Curtis was born at Barre, Orleans County, New York on the first day of November, 1823. His mother moved to Canada when Ezra was about four years of age, his father, who was a minister of the Gospel, having died a short time before. On July 12, 1848 he was united in marriage to Thankful Winchester of Perry, Lake Co., Ohio by Rev. Van Ness. On April 1873 they moved to their present home in Milan township, Erie County, Ohio, where they lived at the death of Mr. Curtis, which occurred Nov. 5, 1900 at the advanced age of 77 years and 5 days. From this union five children were born, three of whom are still living."
