Description	:	FLORENCE CARRIE BROWN Florence Carrie Rider, daughter of Leon Wakeman Rider and Louise Mary Kernan, was born November 30, 1901 in Nodaway, Adams County, Iowa and passed away at the Rosary Hospital in Corning, Iowa on January 2, 1983, at the age of 81 years. She graduated from Corning High School in 1920 and was a a teacher in the rural schools of Adams County for several years. Read More	FLORENCE CARRIE BROWN Florence Carrie Rider, daughter of Leon Wakeman Rider and Louise Mary Kernan, was born November 30, 1901 in Nodaway, Adams County, Iowa and passed away at the Rosary Hospital in Corning, Iowa on January 2, 1983, at the age of 81 years. She graduated from Corning High School in 1920 and was a a teacher in the rural schools of Adams County for several years. She was united in married Walter Leonard Brown on December 20, 1924 at Nodaway, Iowa. They established their home in Corning, where they spent the remainder of their lives. She worked for many years in the Cummings Hardware Store and in the later years, she and her husband owned the store and it was known as Brown Hardware. They retired in August of 1963 when they sold the store. She was also a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Corning. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and two brothers, Paul and Albert Rider. She is survived by her sister, Mrs. Ruth Good of Chanute, Kansa; her brother, Gilbert Rider of Villisca; her nieces, Mrs. George (Marjorie) Smith of Chicago, Illinois; her nephew, Dr. Richard W. Good of Chanute, Kansas; her two sisters-in-law, Mrs. EArl Brown of Council Bluffs, and Mrs. Annis Smith of Corning; and other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 4, 1983, at the Gauthier Funeral Home, Corning, Iowa, with Rev. Kenneth Rummer officiating. Musical selections of “In The Garden” and “How Great Thou Art” were played by Kathy Schafer. Flower bearers were Sandra Kenworthy and Sharon Mitchell. Casket bearers were Wayne Wilson, Robert Brown, Henry Junior Kernen, Paul Brown, Robert Gourley, and Raymond Mitchell. Interment was in the Nodaway Cemetery, Nodaway, Iowa.
