Boots was born October 2, 1926 and was a son of the late Joe H. and Mary Etta Davis, one of 11 children born and raised in Van, WV. Boots was born October 2, 1926 and was a son of the late Joe H. and Mary Etta Davis, one of 11 children born and raised in Van, WV. US Navy World War II veteran, honorably discharged on June 5, 1946; a 32nd Degree Brother of the Odell Masonic Lodge #115 in Madison; Y & O Coal heavy equipment operator and mechanic in Van, WV; Zapata Coal Corp.; supervisor in Sharples, WV; and was a member of U.M.W.A. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Mary Frances Davis of Madison and Newton, WV; his brothers, Guy W., Joe H. Jr. and Arthur "Ott" Davis; and his sisters, Halla Sutphin, Mary Helen Woods and Clara Mae Cook. Surviving brothers, Carl E. of Charleston and Jerry N., of Van; sisters, Agnes Guiseppi of Morgantown, WV and Pearl Cusimano of San Jose, CA. His loving children who will forever cherish his memories, Teresa Davis Knoble of Madison, WV Pamela Davis Dacci of Lancaster, KY and Gregory Davis of Newton, WV. He was a strong, loving and hard working man who gave more to others than he did for himself. Always smiling and happy go luck he lived his life for the love of his family. His kind heart for caring for his dog and horses kept him busy, as we know that's how he always like to be. His family and friends will always cherish his memories of the stories, jokes and pranks that spoke highly of his wonderful personality. His legacy will always live on in those who cherish him so much, his grandchildren, Tracia Ramsey Pauley, John Ramsey, Andrea Dacci Link, Sarah Dacci Clark and Kimberly Dacci Sarlls; and seven great-grandchildren, MacKenzie Price, Carlie Beth Pauley, Lexee and Lilly Ramsey, Gavin Link, Emma Clark and Jack Sarlls. The family would like to thank Ron Stollings and Boone Memorial Hospital for the care and compassion they gave. Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, June 22, 2014 at Handley Funeral Home, Danville with Tom Bias and Harold Woods officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens, Madison. Friends may call one hour prior to the service.
