Sheffield Died Monday At Osborne Frances Elvira Newell, daughter of Adrastus and Mary Ann Newell, was born in Appleton, Wisconsin, January 18, 1864, and departed this life January 9, 1956, at Osborne, Kansas, at the home of her niece, Mrs. Frances Woolley. She came to Kansas with her parents in 1866, and settled near Solomon. After living there a little more than three years, they came to a farm on Criss Creek, near Glasco. As a young girl, she became a member of the Methodist church of Glasco, to which she gave a lifetime of devoted service and interest. United in marriage to D.F. Sheffield June 1, 1887, she lived her married life east of Glasco until his death May 17, 1920. She remained on in her home but for the last two years of her life which she lived in the homes of her nieces, Mrs. Ethel Leaver and Mrs. Frances Woolley in Osborne. She leaves to mourn her passing, her nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. Three sisters and one brother preceded her in death. They were Mrs. Helen Pilcher, Mrs. Alice Fuller, Mrs. Harriett Woodward, and Mr. Seth Newell. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday morning, Jan. 11, 1956, at 10:30 o'clock from the Glasco Methodist church, Rev. John Baker officiating. Pallbearers were Roger Woolley, John Woolley, John Harper, Phillip Dvorznak, Leland Chapin and Otis Hensley. Interment was in Glasco cemetery with McDonald Funeral Home in charge.
