Description	:	Frances Elaine Wise, beloved wife and mother, passed away peacefully at home on June 14, 2011. She was born Dec. 14, 1926 in Omak to Floyd J. and Alta G. (Castleberry) Williams. The Williams moved to Chelan in 1931 as Floyd was a partner in the new Chelan Box and Manufacturing Company with his brother-in-law, Harry Wall. Read More	Frances Elaine Wise, beloved wife and mother, passed away peacefully at home on June 14, 2011. She was born Dec. 14, 1926 in Omak to Floyd J. and Alta G. (Castleberry) Williams. The Williams moved to Chelan in 1931 as Floyd was a partner in the new Chelan Box and Manufacturing Company with his brother-in-law, Harry Wall. In 1935, the family, including Frans's older brother Robert S., moved to Hyacinth Road in Manson, along the shores of Lake Chelan. Fran graduated from Chelan High School in 1944 where she was a majorette in the band. She loved horses and was Lake Chelan Rodeo Queen in 1944. In December 1944, while completing the solo requirement for her pilot's license, Fran hit power lines near Lucerne and crashed into the lake. She was rescued by her sister-in-law, Katherine "Kitty" Williams, who was also flying. Fran married Nyle C. Wise, also of Manson, on Sept. 21, 1949. Nyle and Fran were married for 57 years, until Nyle's death in 2006. Together they had three children, Nanine Elaine in June, 1951, Jean Carol in September 1954, and Barry Mitchell in 1958. As a stay-at-home mother and homemaker, Fran ran the household with great efficiency so that Nyle could concentrate on the orchard business. Besides her children, she also spent nearly 20 years looking after her father, Floyd. Fran and Nyle owned a second home on Maui, where they spent winters for 20 years. They made many lifelong friends there and on their numerous trips to fish in Ketchikan, Alaska. The couple spent many years traveling and particularly enjoyed the South Pacific and Europe. They made many road trips with friends and relatives and explored many different regions of the U.S. and Canada. An avid football fan, Fran was a regular winner in the "Fearless Football Forecasters" pool formed with many of their friends from Chelan and Wenatchee. Many weekends were spent in Seattle at Husky and Seahawks' games. She played bridge regularly, in locations ranging from Stehekin to Las Vegas, with the same group of women friends for over 60 years. She loved the beach, the water and sitting in the sun. A voracious reader, Fran often went through three books a week. Entertaining was a favorite activity and there were many barbecues, cocktail parties and dinners by the lake. Fran was well known as a great cook and always made it look easy. Her home was often the gathering point for her children and their friends. Fran was a longtime member of the Lake Chelan Community Hospital Guild B, Eastern Star, Washington Athletic Club and Pukalani Golf Club on Maui. Active in the Republican Party, Frances was interested in politics from the local to world level. She was the Republican precinct committeewoman for many years and a member of the Chelan Valley Republican Women. She also encouraged her children to become involved and think beyond their home town. Political discussions were part of many dinners. Frances was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Alta; her husband, Nyle; and many of her lifelong friends. She is survived by her brother Robert S. Williams and sister-in-law Kitty (Stranick) of Vancouver, Wash., daughter Nanine Welty Larsen and son-in-law Brian of East Wenatchee; daughter Jean Heikel and son-in-law Larry, also of East Wenatchee; son Barry Wise and daughter-in-law Jill of Wenatchee; and five grandchildren, Gavan Welty, Laine (Heikel) Gray, Jill Heikel, Clare Wise and Mattie Wise. Funeral services will be held at Manson United Methodist Church on Wednesday, June 22 at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Riverview Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Lake Chelan Scholarship Fund or to the Wenatchee Valley Humane Society. Arrangement have been entrusted to Precht Rose Chapel, Chelan.
