Gearhart, a former well known Malvern boy, son of the late W. L. Gearhart, died at his home in Chicago Saturday, March 21, following a few days illness of pneumonia. He was brought to Malvern and funeral services were held in the Mansfield funeral home, Tuesday afternoon. Burial was in the Malvern Cemetery. Frank E. Gearhart, youngest son of Wm. L. and Ina G. Gearhart, was born near Malvern, Iowa, June 26, 1899 and passed away at his home in Chicago, March 21, aged 36 years, nine months and five days. He was reared in the Centerline neighborhood two miles north of Malvern where he received his early education in the rural schools. At the age of 12 years he entered the Malvern high school from which he was graduated with the class of 1917. After graduation he, with his widowed mother moved to Omaha, where he entered the employ of the Remington-Rand Typewriter Co. with whom he was still affiliated at the time of his death. After a number of years in the Omaha house he was transferred to Springfield, Illinois and after three years there to Des Moines. In 1931 he was transferred from Des Moines to Chicago and has since made that city his home. On December 27, 1924 he was united in marriage with Miss Alma Lang of Omaha. To this union three children have been born: Donald Lang, aged 9. Lowell Dwight, aged 3, and Roger Allen, now four months old. He united with the Kountze Memorial Lutheran church in Omaha in the spring of 1924 and has been an earnest worker and faithful member of the church since that time. Upon his removal to Chicago he became affiliated with the North Austin Lutheran church where he was active until his death. He was president of the Men's Bible class for a year and was paid a high tribute by his pastor. He was a great student of the Bible and, for one so young, unusually well versed in Bible history. He will be sadly missed in his church and Sunday school where he was always in his place on the Sabbath. He had an unusually sunny, happy disposition and his home life was ideal. He was a very devoted husband and father and his first thought was always for his wife and children. In addition to his immediate family he is survived by his mother, Mrs. Ina Gearhart, of Malvern, two brothers, Ivan Gearhart of Glenwood and Robert Gearhart, of Council Bluffs, and one sister, Mrs, Lucy Shull, of Chicago, besides a host of other relatives and friends who mourn his departure.
