Services will be held in the Federated church in Fairmont, Friday, October 24, at 2 p. m. Mr. Putlitz was born southeast of Fairmont in Madison township, August 23, 1876. His father, Frank F. Putlitz, a well-known pioneer farmer and holder of public offices in Fillmore county, preceded him in death, August 24, 1933. His mother, Martha Heiderstadt Putlitz, died January 12, 1927. November 15, 1910, he was married to Anna Padley of Fairmont. Early in life Mr. Putlitz became associated with the late Frank W. Sloan, and began his banking career at the Geneva State Bank at Geneva in 1902, when the family was residing there. After a few months he was transferred to the Farmers State Bank at Fairmont as assistant cashier. In January, 1906, he became cashier and later, in 1933, when the late George Aldrich retired as president, he succeeded to that position, which he held until he retired from active banking in April, 1947. He has lived in Fairmont since that time. During the last six months he had been in declining health. Mr. Putlitz was a very successful banker and was civic minded and interested in public affairs. His outstanding qualities were modesty, honesty, loyalty and fairness. Many people can attest to this. He was devoted to his family and never overlooked anything he could do for them, being always willing and ready to serve. Many people remember him as a fair-minded, self-sacrificing individual. He is survived by his wife. The Nebraska Signal October 23rd, 1958 page 4.
