Description	:	Martha Heiderstadt was born July 3, 1852, on Lake Michigan. Her parents were crossing from Bridgeport, Conn., to Sheboygan Falls, Wis., at the time. Putlitz, and they immediately... Read More	Martha Heiderstadt was born July 3, 1852, on Lake Michigan. Her parents were crossing from Bridgeport, Conn., to Sheboygan Falls, Wis., at the time. She claimed Wisconsin as her native state. It was in this state that she grew to womanhood. Only a few years ago, she, together with her sister, Mrs. Charles Meyer, visited their old home there. In 1874, she came with her parents, sisters and brother to Fillmore County, Nebraska, locating on a farm in Chelsea Township. On November 28, 1876, she was married to H. F. Putlitz, and they immediately took up their residence in Madison Township and cast their lot with the rest of the pioneers of those days. Those were happy days. On this old farm were born their five children, Francis F. of Fairmont, Helmuth W. of Santa Monica, Cal., Marth Van Slyke of Basin, Wyo., Harry A. of Fairmont and Venda E. Tous of Exeter, all of whom survive her, together with her husband; four grandchildren; three sisters and one brother; Mrs. Fannie Voigtlander of Geneva, Mrs. Sarah Stevens of Maywood, Neb., Mrs. Minnie Meyer of Geneva and Henry Heiderstadt of Geneva. In 1890, she was confirmed in the faith of the Episcopal Church by Bishop Worthington, and continued in the faith since that time. In 1892, she moved with her family to Geneva, Neb., were she resided for a number of years and at which place reside many of her relatives and old- time friends. In 1910, she removed with her family to Omaha, remining there until the year 1913, when she came to Fairmont, Neb., where she has lived up to the time of her death, which occurred at the family home, January 12, 1927. The ending of this dear woman’s life, and with the closing days of a half century of truly happy married union, which with its tender touch of family life and neighborly friendship wherever she had lived, the joys and sorrows of this communion had so far never been marred by any deep or real sorrow of its immediate home circle. Time only can heal the wound stuck by fate so suddenly, even if it leave the healing mark of its sad memory. The funeral service was held at Trinity Episcopal Church at Geneva, Neb., at 2:30 p.m., Friday, January 14, conducted by Rev. Austin A.H. Haubert of Fairbury, Neb.
