Description	:	TOUS, VENDA EVELINA — Venda Evelina Putlitz Tous, the daughter of Helmuth Francis Putlitz and Martha Matilda Heiderstadt Putlitz was born December 24, 1891, on the family farm southeast of Fairmont in Madison township. She lived her entire life in Fillmore county with the exception of a partial year in Omaha. She attended school in Geneva. Read More	TOUS, VENDA EVELINA — Venda Evelina Putlitz Tous, the daughter of Helmuth Francis Putlitz and Martha Matilda Heiderstadt Putlitz was born December 24, 1891, on the family farm southeast of Fairmont in Madison township. She lived her entire life in Fillmore county with the exception of a partial year in Omaha. She attended school in Geneva. She came to Fairmont in May of 1911 to accept a position in the Farmers State Bank, where she was employed for 14 years. On July 23, 1926, she was united in marriage with Charles F. Tous of Exeter, where they made their home for three years. To this union was born one daughter, Mary Frances Tous. The family moved to Fairmont in 1930. Venda was a 70-year member of Chapter AM, P.E.O. and a longtime member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Fairmont. She was a lifetime member of the Episcopal Church. Venda loved nature, animals and birds. She enjoyed art, music, books and sports. She loved people and had a host of friends and kind neighbors who were a joy to her. She was happy living in her own home until her health made it necessary to move to Fairview Manor in Fairmont in March of 1988. She enjoyed the interaction with other residents there and participated in such activities as her failing hearing and eyesight would permit. Venda passed away Thursday morning, November 1, 1990, at Fillmore County Hospital, Geneva. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Charles, three brothers and one sister. She is survived by her daughter and nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted from the Fairmont Community Church, Fairmont, on Monday, November 5, with Father Don Hanway and the Rev. Norman Kauble officiating. Mrs. Nancy Jo Galusha accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Swartz, who sang “Abide with Me” and “The Lord’s Prayer.” Active casket bearers were Robert Bettger, Bobby Hoeft, Kenneth Kness, Thomas Boyer, Alfred Jorgensen and Don West. Honorary casket bearers were Dr. Charles Ashby, Kenneth Moore, Lee Roth, Bill Boren, Francis Rose and Francis Schepers. Interment was in the Geneva Public Cemetery.
