Description	:	Son of Frantisek 'Frank' & Anna (Musil) Shinn in Kuklik, Nove Mesto, Moravia, Czech. They moved to America in May 1874, coming to Nebraska. His mother died Feb.5, 1875. Frank was married to Mary Fritch on Mar 28, 1892 at Pawnee City, Nebraska. They had 4 children: Edwin died in infancy, Bessie, Jennie and Arthur Albin. FRANK SHINN With deep regrets I report the death of one of our charter members, Bro. Frank Shinn. Bro. Shinn was born in Czechoslovakia on May 14, 1870 and passed away at the home of his daughter in Humboldt, Nebr. on June 29, 1953. He came to the United States with his parents and brothers and sisters in 1874 and settled in the Humboldt area; for a short time they lived at the home of Charles Zulek, the first Czech to settle in that area. In March of 1892 he married Miss Marie Fritch of Pawnee City, Nebr. The couple settled on a farm northwest of DuBois, Nebr., where Bro. Shinn farmed until his retirement some years ago. Surviving are one son, Arthur of Eureka, Calif.; two daughters, Mrs. Jennie Triska of Glendale, Calif. and Mrs. Bessie Jaros of Humboldt, Nebr.; and two brothers, Thomas and Edwin, both of DuBois. Also surviving are 8 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren, His wife, one son, Edwin, and three sisters, Mrs. Frank Yoble, Mrs. Minnie Rakosnik and Mrs. Anna Vitek preceded him in death some years ago. Funeral services were held at the lodge hall, Thursday, July 2, 1953 whti Rev. Ward Merritt officiating. Mrs. Mary Kovanda of Elk Creek was vocal soloist at the services. Burial was in the DuBois Cemetery. I extend deepest sympathy to the saddened family and to our departed Brother, eternal rest and peace.- For Lodge Jan Kollar No. 101, DuBois, Emil Stepanek, Secy.
