He was born on Aug. 15, 1922, in Beatrice and lived in this area his entire life He was a 1941 graduate of Beatrice High School. He and Louise M. Reimer were married on May 14, 1945. He was born on Aug. 15, 1922, in Beatrice and lived in this area his entire life He was a 1941 graduate of Beatrice High School. He and Louise M. Reimer were married on May 14, 1945. They farmed southwest of Beatrice until 1972 when they moved to town. He enjoyed watching all sports and attending his grandchildren's activities. He also enjoyed going to the coffee shop, traveling to Colorado and the East coast, and he especially enjoyed spending time with his family. He is survived by daughters, Donna L. Fox and husband, Gary, of McGraw, N.Y., Kathy L. Casey and husband, Doug, of Harbine, Neb., and Kristin M. Ruiz and husband, Brent, of Beatrice; son, Lawrence W. Penner and wife, Amy, of Beatrice; grandchildren, Monica Beaumont and husband, Derrick, of Cortland, N.Y., Craig Penner and wife, Heather, of Lincoln, Neb., Jason Fox and fiancee, Andrea Robinson, of Binghampton, N.Y., Jill Jurgens and husband, Chad, Lindsay Bent and husband, Brian, Kylie, Zach and Blake Ruiz, all of Beatrice, Laura Casey of Lincoln and Bryce Ruiz of New York City; 12 great-grandchildren; sister, Margaret Boyce and husband, William, of Beatrice. He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise (2004); his parents, Frank and Agatha Penner; brother, Alfred Penner; sister, Elizabeth Reimer. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 15, at First Mennonite Church, rural Beatrice, with Pastor Gail Cross officiating. Private family interment will be held prior to the service in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held at Harman-Wright Mortuary Chapel, Seventh and Elk, Beatrice, on Friday, Jan. 14, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., with the family greeting family and friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established to the Mennonite Cemetery Fund and Beatrice Community Food Pantry.
