Penner, 85 years of age, of Beatrice, NE. passed away at the Beatrice Community Hospital Monday morning, May 10, 2004. She was born on September 10, 1918 in Beatrice, NE. and lived in the Beatrice area her entire life. She was a 1937 graduate of the Beatrice High School, Beatrice, NE. and then taught in several rural schools in the Beatrice area for a number of years. She and Frank W. Penner, 85 years of age, of Beatrice, NE. passed away at the Beatrice Community Hospital Monday morning, May 10, 2004. She was born on September 10, 1918 in Beatrice, NE. and lived in the Beatrice area her entire life. She was a 1937 graduate of the Beatrice High School, Beatrice, NE. and then taught in several rural schools in the Beatrice area for a number of years. She and Frank W. Penner were married on May 24, 1945. They lived on a farm west of Beatrice, NE. until they moved into Beatrice in 1972 where she resided until her death. "Mom" Penner then worked for several years at the Beatrice High School in Beatrice, NE. She was a lifelong member of the First Mennonite Church, R. Beatrice, NE. She enjoyed china painting, her ladies coffee group, and going out to eat with friends. She also enjoyed traveling, especially to Colorado and to the east coast. She especially enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Survivors include her husband Frank; son Lawrence W. Penner and his wife Amy of Beatrice, NE.; 3 daughters Donna L. Fox and husband Gary of McGraw, New York, Kathryn L. Casey and her husband Doug of Beatrice, NE. and Kristin M. Ruiz and her husband Brent of Williamsburg, Virginia; grandchildren Monica Beaumont and her husband Derrick and Jason Fox, all of Cortland, New York, Craig Penner and his wife Heather of Hickman, NE., Jill Jurgens and her husband Chad, Lindsay Casey and Laura Casey, all of Beatrice, NE., and Bryce, Kylie, Zach and Blake Ruiz, all of Williamsburg, Virginia; 5 great grandchildren; brother Oscar Reimer of Beatrice, NE. and sister Margaret Friesen and her husband Bill of North Newton, Kansas. She was preceded in death by her parents Abraham and Marie Reimer; Infant sister Hedwig Reimer; and sisters Ella Reimer, Dora Eaton and Ruth Oswald. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday, May 14, 2004 at the First Mennonite Church, R. Beatrice, NE. with Reverend Weldon and Florence Schloneger officiating. Private family interment will be in the Mennonite Cemetery, R. Beatrice, NE. The body will lie in state Thursday from 9:00-9:00 at the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Beatrice, NE. and not at the church. A memorial has been established to Mother To Mother Ministry and the Beatrice Community Food Pantry with Bill Goossen and Louie Esau Jr. in charge. Messages of condolence may be sent to [email protected] They will be forwarded to the family. The Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Beatrice, NE. is in charge of the services.
