Description	:	Franklin Benjamin Walter, son of Benjamin and Mary Hedinger Walter, was born on April 5, 1876, near Sardis, Monroe County, Ohio and passed away at the Corning Rest Home on Saturday morning, June 11, 1960 at the age of 84 years, 2 months, and 5 days. He moved to Adams County, Iowa with his parents and brothers and sisters when 8 years of age. They settled on a farm a mile southwest of Brooks in 1886 and here he spent his life until moving to his home in Brooks in 1931. He maintained his home and enjoyed gardening as long... Read More	Franklin Benjamin Walter, son of Benjamin and Mary Hedinger Walter, was born on April 5, 1876, near Sardis, Monroe County, Ohio and passed away at the Corning Rest Home on Saturday morning, June 11, 1960 at the age of 84 years, 2 months, and 5 days. He moved to Adams County, Iowa with his parents and brothers and sisters when 8 years of age. They settled on a farm a mile southwest of Brooks in 1886 and here he spent his life until moving to his home in Brooks in 1931. He maintained his home and enjoyed gardening as long as his health permitted. In June 1957 he entered the nursing home where he spent the remainder of his life. He leaves to mourn his passing, one sister, Mrs. Louise Stillinger of Brooks, a number of nieces and nephews, also several cousins and a host of friends. Frank was preceded in death by five brothers, Henry A., Edward R., Frederick J., Louis F., and William; three sisters, Lena M., Emma A. Hossman, and an infant sister, Ida Margaret. He has been a member of the Brooks Methodist Church for many years and in his reclining years enjoyed listening to radio sermons. He will be remembered as a kindly person, a good neighbor, and especially thoughtful of little children.The last rites were held at 2 p.m. on Monday the 13th at the Brooks Methodist Church with the pastor Joe Cook in charge. The songs were "The Rock of Ages" and "Does Jesus Care" sang by Mrs. Harold Refling and Mrs. Marvin Fuller with Mrs. C. C. Clark as accompanist. Casket bearers were Glen Hossman, Fred Stillinger, Clyde Stillinger, William Walter, Harold Walter, and Fred Walter, all nephews and great nephews of the deceased. Interment was at the Methodist Grove Cemetery, southwest of Brooks. Relatives from a distance who came to attend the services were Mr. and Mrs. Sam Scheiger of Lincoln, Nebraska, Mrs. John Walter, Fred and Sharon of New Market, and Mr. and Mrs. Everett Wallace and Mahlon of Des Moines.
