Read More	Boone County Democrat January 16, 1913 After suffering many years from various ailments, principally paralysis, Fred Elliott of South Marion Street, the Fifth ward, passed away Tuesday afternoon about 3:00 o’clock, at the home of his father, the Rev. John Elliott. Fred for some time was unable to leave his home and was confined to his room most of the time. While able to be out years ago, he was not in the best of health and suffered from an affliction of one side which was one of the causes of his death. The funeral services are to be held this afternoon, at 1:30 o’clock from the house and 2:00 o’clock from the Marion Street M.E. church, the services in charge of the Rev. A.L. Golden Mr. Elliott came from one of the prominent pioneer families of the community, his father, the Rev. John Elliott being as well known, perhaps as any other citizen of the county. A sketch of the life of Mr. Elliott will be given later. ~~~~~~~~~~~ Boone County Democrat January 23, 1913 The funeral services for the late Fred Elliott was held Thursday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock from the Marion street residence and 2:00 o’clock from the Marion street M.E. church, the services being in charge of the Rev. A.L. Golden pastor of that church and the K. of P. [Knights of Pythias] lodge No. 324 of which he was a member. Many friends gathered at the house and church and went with the remains to Linwood Park cemetery for the interment. The pall bearers were chosen from his lodge brothers and were Messers. F.H. Lyle, W.W. Brunton, Walter E. Kern, T.B. Holmes, John Daniel and Webb Patterson. At the grave the K. of P. burial service was used. Fred H. Elliott was born at Wappelo, Louisa county, Iowa, November 21, 1865, and died in Boone, Iowa, January 14, 1913, aged 47 years, one month and 21 days. He came with his parents to central Iowa and his father being an itinerant Methodist minister, they had no settled residence, until later Boone became their permanent home. He was educated at Simpson college, Indianola, Iowa. After his residence in Boone he was in the employ of the W.D. Johnson Coal Company as bookkeeper for about four years, after which he was employed by the Fort Dodge, Des Moines & Southern Railroad Company in their office at Boone, when his health failed and he was compelled to quit work. For several years he was afflicted with paralysis which finally caused his death. He was converted and joined the Marion street M.E. church during 1912. He was the youngest of a family of six children. His brothers and sisters preceded him to the spirit world. His mother died January 28, 1908. He leaves a father, the Rev. John Elliott of Luther.
