Hofmann, at 10:40 Tuesday night in the home of his daughter, Mrs. Cleo Korber. Mr. Hofmann had not been well for five years, having suffered with diabetes and heart trouble but even though he had had frequent heart attacks, responded quickly to treatment. He had been on the street during the day Tuesday, and his death was a great shock to his friends who had grown in number since his residence in Seneca the past year. Mr. Hofmann was a good natured and friendly man who enjoyed associations with people. He especially enjoyed his grandchildren and their friends and lived a rich, full life of 74 years. Fred Hofmann was born May 2, 1871 in the DuBois community and lived there all his life with the exception of the past year, when he spent much of his time in Seneca. He grew to manhood in the community of his birth and was married April 10, 1893 to Minnie Goldsberry. Four children were born to this union, two children, Leonard and Loree, preceding their father in death. Mrs. Hofmann died January 26, 1928. There are two daughters who survive, Mrs. Korber, Seneca, and Mrs. Leah Frey, DuBois, Neb. One sister, Mrs. Rose Minger, Marysville, also survives. There are three grandchildren, Jean and Billy Korber, Seneca, and Lynn Robert Frey, DuBois. Mr. Hofmann was a farmer by occupation and spent all of his active life until his health prevented, in that work. He retired three years ago. The funeral service will be held at the Lauer Funeral Home at one o'clock Friday and at 2:00 in the United Brethren Church, DuBois, with Rev. H. C. Mariatt, Seneca pastor, in charge.
