Hofmann, was born March 30, 1898, on the home place near DuBois, and died at St. Catherine Hospital;, Omaha, a few days after a sudden heart attack, Friday, June 12, 1942, age 44 years, two months and 13 days. He obtained his schooling in the rural schools of Richardson county and attended the advanced grades known as two year high at the DuBois school. For a number of years he owned a garage at Oneida, Kans. He moved to Omaha in 1933m where he obtained employment as assistant fire chief at Swift & Company, being by them for several years. Then he entered business for himself in South Omaha. He is survived by his father, Fred W. Hofmann, of DuBois, two sisters, Miss Leah, at home, and Mrs. Cleo Korber, of Baileyville, Kans., one nephew and niece, Billy and Jean Korber, of Baileyville, a number of aunts and uncles and other relatives and a great number of friends. He was a member of the B. P. O. F. Lodge, of Omaha. H was always willing to help others, made friends easily and was beloved by his family. Jovial and kind in his relation to others. Short funeral services were conducted by Rev. W. F. Kohl, pastor of the Christian church, at Brews and Kresko funeral home Sunday morning, the remains were then brought to DuBois and services were held at the United Brethren church at 2:30 p.m., with Rev. Otis Webb in charge. Burial was in the DuBois cemetery. Pall Bearers were P. L. Adams, Ernie Van Hoyer, Earl Johnson, Ray Mayberry, Chris Justesen and Louie Dukick, all of Omaha. Hofmann, was born March 30, 1898 on the home place northwest of Bern and died at St. Catherine hospital, Omaha, a few days after a sudden and unexpected heart attack, Friday, June 12, 1942, at the age of 44 years, 2 months and 12 days. He attended rural school in Richardson county, Nebraska., and advanced grades, known as two year high school, at DuBois. For a number of years he owned a garage at Oneida, later moved to Omaha in 1922, where he became Assistant Fire Chief at Swift & Co., being employed by them for several years. Then he entered business for himself in South Omaha. He is survived by his father, Fred W/ Hofmann, DuBois; two sisters, Mrs. Cleo Korber, Baileyville, Kans., and Leah at home; one nephew and one niece, Billy and Jean Korber, uncles and aunts, besides other relatives and a great number of friends. He was preceded in death a number of years ago by his mother, and a brother Leonard. He was a member of the B P O E (Elks) lodge of Omaha. Lou was always willing to help others.- He easily made friends, and was beloved by his family and close friends, jovial and kind in his relations with others. Short funeral services were held June 14 at 9:00 at a funeral home in Omaha, conducted by Rev. W. F. Kohl of the Christian church and his remains were brought home to rest. Services were conducted at the U. B. church in DuBois at 2:30 by Rev. Otis Webb. Interment was in the DuBois cemetery with the pallbearers all of Omaha, being: F. L. Adams, Ernie Van Hoozer, Earl Johnson, Ray Nayberry, Chris Justesin and Louie Dukick.
