Read More	Lone Tree Reporter, Thursday, May 10, 1928, Vol. 37 No. 24, Page 1 FORBES FUNERAL IS HELD ON TUESDAY BURIAL TAKES PLACE IN SWANK CEMETERY NEAR EARLY CHILDHOOD DAYS The funeral services for Fred Forbes, who passed away in Modesto, California, following an operation, was held in Swank church on Tuesday, afternoon of this week, conducted by Rev. C. Edward Holyoke of the local Reformed church. Burial was in the Swank cemetery. The body arrived in Conesville a day or two previous and was kept at the home of the deceased's mother, Mrs. Asa Forbes. Many relatives and former neighbors and friends gathered to pay last tribute of respect to the memory of the one they had loved. The pall bearers were all members of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and were as follows' Harry Maxwell, Will Maxwell, Arthur Jean, L ? Bebb, Fred Coffin and Leander McKee. The flower girls were four nieces of the deceased and were as follows, Mrs. Sheldon Forbes, Mrs. Reva Forbes, Beulah and Helen Forbes. Music was furnished by a quartette from the Lone Tree Reformed church. The obituary was read at the service. Fred E. Forbes was born December 21, 1876 in Louisa County, Iowa. The early part of his life was spent in Louisa County. He was united in marriage with Etta Cline of Lone Tree, June 3, 1897. To this union five children were born, two of whom, Layton and Goldie preceded him in death. In 1910 with his family he went to Minnesota where he lived until February, 1927 when they moved to Modesto, California where he was at the time of his passing, May 2, 1928, following an operation. He leaves his wife, three children, Mrs. Gertrude Edwards of Marshall, Minn., Lloyd of Tracy, Minn., and Larry at home. His mother, Sarah Forbes, one sister, Mrs. Jay Wall, three brothers, Hancy, Clarence and Vernie of Conesville, two grandchildren and a host of other friends and relatives. He was a member of the Oddfellows. Those from a distance who were here to attend the Fred Forbes funeral were as follows' Alta and Margaret Morse, and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Goldsberry of Muscatine; Mr. and Mrs. Harry Edwards of Marshall Minnesota and Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Forbes of Tracy, Minnesota. CARD OF THANKS We wish to thank the many friends for the kind acts of sympathy performed during our recent bereavement in the death of our husband, father, son and brother, Fred Forbes.
