Description	:	Mrs. Frederika Blohm, [born Rica Berg], passed away peacefully March 4, 1948. She was born April 10, 1860, the daughter of Ludwig and Marie Berg in Treptow, Germany. She was baptized into the Christian faith on April 22, 1860 and was confirmed in the Evangelical Lutheran Church on March 29, 1874. She was born April 10, 1860, the daughter of Ludwig and Marie Berg in Treptow, Germany. She was baptized into the Christian faith on April 22, 1860 and was confirmed in the Evangelical Lutheran Church on March 29, 1874. At the age of fourteen, she came to the United States with her father, mother and siblings in 1874, and settled in Ottawa, IL. [Fredericka's siblings are Fred Berg, born 1855; William M. Theo. Berg, born 21 Nov. 1858; and Willamina Fredricka Sophia "Minnie" Berg Graves, born 15 March 1871.] On July 16, 1881, she was united in wedlock with Joe Blohm in Ottawa, Illinois. They lived there for six years and then moved to Hamlin, Iowa. This was followed by three years in Douglas Township. After that until 1913 they lived in Sharon Township. Thirty-five years ago (from 1948)their home was made in Audubon. Last Thursday evening at 9:05 p.m. Mrs. Joe Blohm departed in peace having attained the age of 87 years, 10 months and 23 days. Her husband preceded her on November 23, 1937 and also two children Louis, killed in World War I, and Martha, who died 8 years ago. [A stillborn infant son, born 23 Nov. 1895, is buried in the Douglas Township Cemetery, Audubon Co., IA] Those mourning her departure are her children: William, Charlie, Henry, Frank and Mabel all of Audubon and Minnie (Mrs. Summer Collins), Ella (Mrs. Ray Hoover), and Fred all of whom are of Omaha and one sister Mrs. M.D. Graves of Audubon and nineteen grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren. Mrs. Joe Blohm, a sincere Christian, was a faithful member of St. John's Lutheran Church. Because of her faith in the crucified Savior, she was a loving mother and a friendly neighbor. The qualities which Christian faith gave to her made her the object of love from her family and her friends. A service for the family was conducted in her home Saturday evening by Rev. M.R. Boehike and the public service was held in the McFadden Funeral Home Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. At the request of the deceased, made on her death-bed, Rev. M.R. Boehike addressed the mourners on the 23rd Psalm. Mr. G. Thomas sang "The Lord Is My Shepherd" and "Abide with Me" accompanied by Miss Astrid Jensen who also played interlude music. Internment was beside her husband in the Maple Grove Cemetery. Out of towners attending were Mrs. Marvin Short, Des Moines, Mr. and Mrs. Francis Barrett, Jefferson, IA, and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Klatska, Barring Missouri.
