Otten died Nov. 25 at the home of his daughter, Mrs. W. J. Zimmerman, Amber. Funeral was held Monday afternoon at Wayne Lutheran church with Rev. F . H. Kehren and Rev. J. P. Willms officiating. Casket bearers were Herman Englebart, Otto Englebart, John Husman, D. John Dirks, Frank Johnson and William Otten. Burial was in Wayne cemetery. Life Reviewed Frerich Habben Otten was born April 27, 1863, at Wiesedemeer, East Friesland, Germany. He was the son of Otto and Anne Brunnen Otten. He was baptized by Rev. DeBuhr May 25, 1863, and was confirmed on April 14, 1878. He came to United States in 1884 at the age of 21. He arrived at Scotch Grove and lived there until April 13, 1950, when he went to the home of his daughter where he died. He chose farming as his life's vocation. On May 7, 1889, he was married to Lina Johanna Luekea Janssen, at Wayne church. Seven children were born, three of whom preceded him in death, twin sons, and Otto, who died in 1942 in Colorado. His wife died on April 28, 1949. Died Saturday Mr. Otten underwent surgery an February and was in fairly good health until a few months ago when his strength began to fail. His condition became worse about a week before his death and he died Saturday morning at 3:17 a.m. He was trustee of his school district for a number of years and also served as church deacon. Survivors are his daughters, Mrs. Chris Bohlken, Riceton, Saskatchewan, Canada; Mrs. Zimmerman, Amber; his sons, John Otten and Ben Otten, both of Scotch Grove; 26 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren: a brother, Otto Otten, Amber, and a sister, Mrs. Mary Dirks, Longmont, Colo. Two sisters and brother preceded him in death.
