Description	:	Garnet Laverne Tuttle, the daughter of George E.and Maude (Countryman) Scherer, was born on June 27, 1913 in Lake Andes, South Dakota. She passed away on August 18, 2005 at the Good Samaritan Center in Nelson, Nebraska at the age of 92 years, 1 month and 22 days. Garnet was joined in marriage to George Stephen Tuttle on December 26, 1935 in Geddes, South Dakota. To this union two sons were born, George Bruce Tuttle and Charles Stephen Tuttle. Read More	Garnet Laverne Tuttle, the daughter of George E.and Maude (Countryman) Scherer, was born on June 27, 1913 in Lake Andes, South Dakota. She passed away on August 18, 2005 at the Good Samaritan Center in Nelson, Nebraska at the age of 92 years, 1 month and 22 days. Garnet was joined in marriage to George Stephen Tuttle on December 26, 1935 in Geddes, South Dakota. To this union two sons were born, George Bruce Tuttle and Charles Stephen Tuttle. George and Garnet resided in several small communities in South Dakota during their marriage, and moved from Chamberlain, South Dakota to Blair, Nebraska in May of 1981. George passed away November 1, 1988 and Garnet moved to Superior, Nebraska in 1989. She moved to Nelson, Nebraska in 1998 and was residing at the Nelson Good Samaritan Center at the time of her death. Although her formal education ended at 8th grade, Garnet was an avid reader and proliferate writer. During the 50's and 60's she wrote a column titled, "From My Dining Room Table" for the Charles Mix County newspaper in which she "chatted" with her readers about community events, the weather, and personal observations. She also wrote poetry, and continued to do so until she was nearly 80 years old. In addition to her husband, Garnet was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Charles and George Scherer, and foster sister Ruth Varilek. She is survived by her sons, George "Bruce" and wife Janice of Omaha, Nebraska; and Charles "Chuck" and wife DeAnna of Nelson, Nebraska; seven grandchildren, Angela Petersen, Leigh Anne Larson, John Tuttle, Erika Tuttle, Nicholas Tuttle, Gretchen Radler and Michelle Cavanaugh; two step-grandchildren, Beverly Dalton and Phillip Kneifl, nine great-grandchildren, 13 step-great-grandchildren and 1 step-great-great-granddaughter; other relatives and a host of friends. Memorial services were held on Wednesday, August 24, 2005 at 10:00 AM from the Salem Lutheran Church in Rural Superior, Nebraska with Pastor Barbara Bauer officiating. Music was congregational hymns, "What A Friend We Have In Jesus" and "Blessed Assurance" and solo "Amazing Grace" sung by Deb Garrison with Betty McKevitt as organist. Honorary Pallbearers were John Tuttle, Nicholas Tuttle, Scott Petersen, Scott Larson, David Radler, David Dalton and Phillip Kneifl. Graveside Service and inurnment was in the Tekamah Cemetery, Tekamah, Nebraska; Thursday, August 25, 2005 at 1:00 PM. Memorials may be given to Salem Lutheran Church, Nelson Good Samaritan Center of the donor's choice. Klawitter-Price Funeral Home of Nelson, Nebraska was in charge of the arrangements.
