Description	:	Miss Ida Silker was born in Barrington, Illinois, on October 16, 1869. At the age of thirteen years she came to Nebraska with her parents, who settled on a farm about two miles west of Chester. She united with the M.E. Church in her young childhood and retained her membership until her death. On August 14, 1889, she was united in marriage with Mr. John E. Rieke, at Hebron, Nebraska. The young couple went to housekeeping on a farm just west of Chester. To this union were born six children, three boys and three girls, all of whom survive... Read More	Miss Ida Silker was born in Barrington, Illinois, on October 16, 1869. Church in her young childhood and retained her membership until her death. On August 14, 1889, she was united in marriage with Mr. John E. Rieke, at Hebron, Nebraska. The young couple went to housekeeping on a farm just west of Chester. To this union were born six children, three boys and three girls, all of whom survive her. They are: Mrs. Lavina Utterback of Arlington, Nebr.; Mrs. Grace Barnes of Chester, Nebr.; George Rieke of Republic, Kansas; Ervin Rieke of Chester; Mrs. Agnes Hess of Narka, Kansas; and Ralph Rieke of Chester. She is also survived by her husband, John Rieke of Chester; two sisters, Mrs. E.F. Shawen of Carleton, and Miss Cora Silker of Barrington, Illinois; and one brother, Arthur Silker of Chester. She leaves to mourn her passing one nephew, eight nieces, and twenty-six grandchildren. She had been in poor health for several months having been a sufferer from dropsy. About a week ago she seemed to fail quite rapidly, but the decline was not deemed alarming. On Sunday morning, March 8, 1936, at about 10 o'clock, she slipped away with very little warning to those watching. She was 66 years, 4 months and 21 days old at the time of her going. She was always an energetic woman, often working beyond her strength. She will be missed most by her family whom she had served so well, but she will also be missed by many friends who held her in high esteem. Interment was made in the Chester Cemetery.
