Rieke, son of John and Ida (Silker) Rieke, was born November 1, 1898 on a farm near Chester, NE, in Thayer County. He died at 90 years of age on December 14, 1988 in Colorado City, TX. He received his formal education in the Chester public schools. He married Edith Larkins Rieke in February 6, 1920, and to this union four children were born. He was a member of the Methodist Church. He farmed for Max Derowitsch from 1960 until 1986. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Edith; brothers, George and Ralph; sisters, Vina, Agnus and Grace, and one great-grandson. Surviving him are: his son, Willard, of Chester, daughter, Mrs. Glenn Kephart of Pasco, Wash.; son, Loren of Crete, Nebr., daughter, Donna Dowty of Colorado City, Tex.; 12 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held December 19 at the United Methodist Church of Chester, conducted by the Rev. Truman Bachenberg. Interment was made in Chester Cemetery.
