Description	:	George Andrew Show was born at Callaway, Custer county, Nebr., Feb. 17, 1888. His loving mother was taken from him at the tender age of twenty days. Read More	George Andrew Show was born at Callaway, Custer county, Nebr., Feb. 17, 1888. His loving mother was taken from him at the tender age of twenty days. A dear friend and neighbor took the little fellow and cared for him six months, when he was taken very sick and a change of climate was considered best by his father and they left for his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs Andrew Berkheimer, at Malvern. It seemed as though it would be impossible for the dear babe to reach Malvern alive, but he was spared, as he was many times before he was Six years of age, he having a severe struggle with pneumonia and lung fever and never well until after six years of age and then never strong like other boys of his age. A year ago last March his father took him to live again at the place of his birth, near Callaway, Nebr. About a month after moving back to Nebraska he became converted through the efforts of a blind minister and united with the M. E. church, of which, his father had been a faithful member for nearly twenty-five years. Sept. 8 his father decided that the climate of Oregon might improve the health of his only child and after bidding their many Nebraska friends a farewell departed for Forest Grove, Oregon, reaching there a few days later. George was, apparently, in good health when they left his birthplace, but undoubtedly the typhoid germs had begun their fatal work, as the poor boy was permitted to attend school there but three days. His suffering was awful from the first and never was he permitted to sleep to exceed fifteen minutes at a time. After careful medical attention and the best of nursing the boy was unable to battle with the terrible disease, typhoid fever, and died Nov. 14, 1904{note: Oct.}, just as the clock struck 4, aged 16 years 7 months and 27 days. After a short funeral service conducted by Rev. Bellnap, the M. E. minister, at the new home of only a month the father started with the body for this place, the last three hundred miles being over tbe same route his lifeless mother was brought nearly seventeen years ago. The funeral services were held at the residence of Mr. A. Berkheimer at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 19, conducted by Rev. W. H. Cable assisted by Rev. H. R. Waldo and was largely attended. The Methodist choir furnished special music. The remains were laid to rest in the beautiful Malvern cemetery. --Malvern Leader - 20 Oct 1904 - Thursday
