For some months he had been ailing and a couple of weeks ago was taken to that place in the hopes that he might receive treatment that would be beneficial. The news of his death caused a sadness to all and especially to his foster parents, Mr. and Mrs. O.F. Angstrom. Mr. Angstrom drove to Webster City the same night and then on to Cherokee and made arrangements for the body to be shipped here and the remains came Wednesday. George Breckfeldt was born in the Children's Home in New York City, June 29, 1885 and passed away about 7 p.m. November 28, 1921, at the age of 36 years, 4 months, 28 days. He lived at the home until Nov. 29, 1890 at which time he was adopted by Mr. and Mrs. O.F. Angstrom. Stratford has been his home ever since with the exception of three years when the family lived at Cambridge. He received his schooling in Stratford. George was well thought of here. He was of a sunny disposition and always made it a point to recognize his friends whenever he met them. His early passing is sad and will be keenly felt by all of his friends and relatives here. Funeral services will be held at the family home this afternoon at 1:45 and at the Baptist Church at 2:00 o'clock. Interment will be made in Oakwood Cemetery. Webster City Daily News November 30, 1921 Young Hamilton County Man Dies in Hospital Relatives in this city yesterday received the news of the death of George Breckfeldt, at the state hospital in Cherokee, which occurred Monday. The remains were shipped here yesterday and taken to Stratford for burial. Mr. Breckfeldt was only taken to the hospital Thursday, November 17, for treatment, having been ill mentally and physically for about a month. He was the adopted son of Mr. and Mrs. Ole Angstrom, of Stratford, having been one of the group of New York orphans sent out to this city for adoption over thirty years ago. He was thirty-six years old at the time of his demise and has always lived at home with his foster parents. The disability did not make itself known until recently, when it was thought best to send him to a hospital for treatment. The funeral services will be held at the family home in Stratford tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * According to his New York Birth Certificate (No. 430717), George Breckfeldt was born on June 29, 1885 in Manhattan, New York City, New York at the New York Infant Asylum on 61st Street. His parents are listed as George Breckfeldt and Mary Cusick.
