Description	:	Mr. George Ernest Short was born in Clay Center, Nebraska, October 27, 1875. At the age of 3 he moved with his family to Nelson where he spent his entire life. In 1898 he was united in marriage to Leah Alberding of Clay Center, Nebraska. To this union 10 children were born. He lost his wife and 2 small sons during the flu epidemic of 1920. He is survived by 6 children: Mrs. Marie Jacobs of Edgar, Mr. William Marion Short of Nelson, Mrs. Elva Hansen of Nebraska City, Mrs. Leah White of Urbana, Mo., Mr. Valorus Short of Brookhaven, Miss., Mrs. Dorothy Ruth Harris of Nelson, 15 grand children, 40 great grand children, many nieces, nephews, many friends and a sister, Grace Snyder of Tacoma, Washington. A son, Lyle and a daughter, Fern also preceded him in death. Services were held Saturday September 20, 1969 at 2 p.m. in the First Presbyterian Church of Nelson with the Rev. Elkan Kemp of Edgar officiating. Burial was in the Nelson cemetery. The Klawitter Ffuneral (sic) home was in charge. Casket bearers were Jim Harris, Larry Kelley, Bob Shaw, Dick Shaw, Gary Schmer and Dennis Ulmer. Those attending the funeral from out of town were, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hansen and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Miller and Cherri of Nebraska City, Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Jacobs of Edgar, Mrs. Edwin L. Short of Evanston, Ill., Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Shaw, Dick and Bob of Fairfield, Mr. Wes Jacobs of Oakland, Mr. and Mrs. Larry Kelley and girls of Lincoln, Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Ulmer and girls and Mr. and Mrs. Gary Schmer and Rachel of Sutton, Mr. Ralph Alberding of Clay Center and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Luth of Grand Island.
