The Presbyterian church was taxed to capacity Tuesday Afternoon when loved ones and friends of long standing assembled to pay final respects to this well liked and well known citizen. Their presence was evidence of this esteem in the community of which he had resided in for many years. Rev. H. W Apel, pastor of the Hoxie Presbyterian church, was in charge of the services. The singers were Lloyd Morgan, Jay Steinshouer, Ray Sloan and Jack Andregg. Mrs. Wesley Bartel was organist. Casket bearers were: Max and Mark Cooper, Robert Deane, Charles Mowry, Marvin Launchbaugh, and Ray Smith. Interment was in the Hoxie Cemetery. George Frank Cooper, son of Isaac and Rose Cooper, was born in Mitchell County, March 14, 1890, and departed this life Oct, 15 1950, age 60 years, seven months and one day. His boyhood was spent in Mitchell County among relatives and many friends. In the fall of 1922 the family moved to Sheridan County, locating on a farm 2- ½ miles east of Hoxie. George was the second in the family of five children, all of whom are still living. Edward H. of Glen Elder; Mary E. Lundy, of Myrtle Point, Ore; Ralph J. Cooper of Wakeeney; and Milton I. Cooper of Hoxie, The father and mother preceded him in death. George was married to Christine Kerr, July 14, 1913. To this Union three children were born, Violet Self of Texas City, Texas; Imogene Toothaker, of Hoxie, and Norris who passed away in 1935. The family have made their home in the neighborhood between Hoxie and Tasco where their neighbors were their friends. George had a gift for making and keeping friends. He was always cheerful and had a friendly greeting for everyone. Life is brighter for having known him. He was a good neighbor and was well liked and respected by all who knew him. He was a kind and loving husband and father. His family came first in his thoughts and plans. He will be sadly missed by his wife, two daughters and grandson, William J Self, Jr., his brothers, sister, the sons-in-law, William J Self and Willis Toothaker, together with other relatives and a host of friends. Although his time on earth was short, the memory of his kind and cheerful spirit lives on in the lives of his loved ones. He made the days brighter for others. He liked people, his creed was the Golden Rule. God's finger touched him and he slept. There fell upon the house a sudden gloom and shadow lay o'er all within. But there is promise for those who wept. He giveth his beloved sleep. The out-of-town relatives and friends here for the services were: Mrs Ed Cooper, Mr and Mrs. Dave Wright, Mr. And Mrs. Orval Wright, Mr. And Mrs. Lewis Neff, Mr and Mrs Frank Stouffer and Son and Mrs. Jessie Davis, all of Glen Elder; Mr and Mrs. Alvin Logan, Mr and Mrs. Francis Farson, Mrs. Ray Fritchen and Children, Donna and David; Miss Ruby Cooper and Joe Gaston, all of Beloit; Mrs. Bessie Jones of Bloomington; George Kohler of St. Joseph, Mo.; Mrs Leland Jones and Ray Kohler, of Salina; Mrs. Emma Cooper and Glen Cooper, Mr. And Mrs. Will Stockbridge of Alton; Mr. And Mrs. Ralph Cooper, Wakeeney, Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Launchbaugh and Kenny David and Mr. And Mrs. Bob Deane and son all of Hays; Mrs Myrtle Smith of Jennings; Mr and Mrs. Darvin Smith of Sharon Springs; Mr and Mrs. Russell Bainter of Dresden and Ray Smith of Leoti.
