Jan. 18, 2004 TAHLEQUAH, Okla. — William Eugene "Bill" Hixon, 80, died Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2004, in Tulsa, Okla. He was born April 25, 1923, to Ross E. and Maude N. (Bakelaar) Hixon, in Whiting. He grew up in Norton and was a U.S. Army veteran. He attended school in Kansas City, Mo., and graduated from watchmaking and jewelry school. He married Cleo Wanker on Aug. 17, 1950, in Hill City. They owned and operated Nixon Jewelers in Hill City for 37 years until their retirement in 1985. They moved to Tahlequah, Okla., in 1994. Survivors include his wife; a son, William "Billy," Tahlequah; a daughter, Linda "Linn" Rudman, Kansas City, Mo., four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Spencer-Stinemetz Chapel, Hill City; burial in Hill City Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
