Read More	GRIM REAPER VISITS HOMES IN CRISFIELD George T. Purnell Passes Away In Baltimore Hospital George T. Purnell, well known Crisfield resident, died at the Marine Hospital in Baltimore at an early hour last Tuesday morning. He was 71 years of age and had been in failing health for sometime past. Death came as the result of a complication of diseass. In early manhood Mr. Purnell felt the urge of the sea and for many years led the life of a sailor on board large four-masters and square rigged schooners, during which time he visited practically every large port in the world. It was from his vast deep sea sailing that he derived the name "Square Rigger" by which he was familiarly known in later years. About 1890, tiring of the life of a deep sea sailor, he returned to his childhood home in Crisfield and since resided in this city. In 1894 he was marred to Miss Jennie E. Hoffman, daughter of the late David W. Hoffman and Mrs. Hoffman, who survives him. George was a man of estimable character, high intelligence and a thorough Christian gentleman, who leaves a host of friends who join his bereaved wife and family in mourning his death. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Jennie E. Purnell; two daughters, Mrs. Bessie Mitchell of Washington D. C., and Miss Louise Purnell of Philadelphia, Pa.; and two sons, Messrs. Paul and Marvin Purnell. Three brothers, James and Edward Purnell cf Crisfield and Fletcher Purnell of Washington, D. C., also survive him. Funeral services were held at the late home on Cove Street Thursday afternoon conducted by Rev. John J. Bunting, assisted by Rev. W. L. Hoffman. Interment was in the Crisfield cemetery.
