The Independent Record (Helena, Montana), P. 2, Col. 3 Sun., Jun. 4, 1905 Item from SOCIETY: The following taken from a recent issue of the San Jose Mercury will be of interest to the bride's many friends in Helena: The wedding of Miss Fleda Perrin and George Welty Eckhardt, celebrated at Trinity Church, Wednesday evening at 8 o'clock, was one of the most beautiful of the season, as well as one of the largest and most fashionable. Perhaps its most distinctive, and at the same time most beautiful feature was the emphasis laid on the sacramental character of the marriage. The boy choir sang the fine marriage hymns, "O Perfect Love" and "On Our Way Rejoicing" for a processional and recessional, in place of the usual marches, and also rendered the triumphant "Jubilate" immediately after the betrothal service. The bride, too, carried a white prayer book, from which the solemn marriage service was read by the Rev. Mr. Gresham - all this laying stress on the sacred side of the wedding celebration. The decorations at the church were simple but artistic: at the house, where a reception to friends and relatives was afterward held, more elaborate and very beautiful. Pink and white was the color scheme in both places. The bride looked fair and lovely in her exquisite gown of white embroidered crepe, which, by the way, was purchased in Rome during a visit there last summer. Miss Maude Perrin, daintily attired in a shirred frock of pink silk mull, carrying Cecil Bruner roses and wearing a half wreath of them in her hair, made a fetching picture as bridesmaid. The best man was Bradley Sargent, the groom's nephew, and Messrs. F. B. Hunter, H. M. Jack, Doxey Wilson and Charles Sargent, all Stanford men, were ushers. The bride was, of course, given away by her father, Dr. A. T. Perrin, and her brother, Arch Perrin, was organist. Miss Perrin is a cultured and accomplished young woman, being a musician and a very fine pianist, who is much loved by a wide circle of friends. The groom is a young man of fine attainments, who holds the responsible position of cashier in the bank at Pacific Grove. In the delightful town by the sea, the young people will make their home, Mr. Eckhardt having a pleasant new home ready for his bride. They were also fortunate in receiving an unusually large number of beautiful and costly presents, and many wishes for happiness to follow them into the new life. Dec. 6, 1973 Eckhardt, George Welty, 1876-1973 George Welty Eckhardt, 97, of Forest Hill Manor died Tuesday at Pacific Grove Convalescent Hospital after a period of failing health. A native of Gilroy, he attended schools in that city, and Stanford University, where he was a member of Phi Kappa Psi. In 1898 he came to work at the Bank of Monterey, the Peninsula's only bank at that time. Except for four years spent in Northern California, his entire banking career was in the Peninsula. Mr. Eckhardt retired from banking in 1941, as manager and assistant trust officer for the Bank of America branch, Monterey. From 1941-58, he served as a state inheritance tax appraiser. Mr. Eckhardt was a former member of the Rotary Club of Monterey; of Pacific Grove Lodge 331 F & AM; and of St. Mary's-by-the-Sea Episcopal Church of Pacific Grove. He was also active in charitable and civic organizations on the Peninsula. He leaves several nieces and nephews. His late wife, Fleda, died in 1961. Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Little Chapel-by-the-Sea with the Rev. Dwight Edwards of St. Mary's-by-the-Sea officiating. Inurnment will be at El Carmelo Cemetery with the Paul Mortuary in charge of arrangements.
