Read More	Moravia Union, Sept. 8, 1960, p.1 Ella Foster Georgia Ellen McCann Foster, daughter of John and Abigail McCann, was born Dec. 7, 1872 in Appanoose county and passed away at the home of her son Olin, southwest of Moravia, Monday, Aug. 29,after a brief illness! She was raised on a farm near Wesley Chapel after which she received her education and taught school in and this community. On February 26, 1893 she was united in marriage to Henry Foster and to this union five children were born. Her husband and one son, Odis, preceded her in death. Mr. Foster died Dec. 7, 1953 and her son Odis in 1930. Her survivors include three daughters and a son, Mrs. Forrest Mericle of Moravia, Mrs. Leona Eaton of Exline, Mrs. Claud Wren of Albia, Olin Foster of Moravia, and 18 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren and 1 greatgreat grandchild. 11 of her grand sons and 5 of her grand sons-in-law served in the armed forces of our country. Mrs. Foster joined the Fairview Methodist church at an early age, being raised under Christian guidance and atmosphere. She and her husband took a great deal of interest in the building of the Darby church. Having spiritual interests at heart they used to take their family and walk to Darby in the morning, Fairview in the afternoon and again to Darby in the evening. This made a ten mile walk to attend church services. It is noted by the children that a new and vital Christian interest came to this home around 1911 when a campmeeting was held on the Fairview church grounds and even though the children were small they could sense the influence this meeting made in their home. The services were held Wednesday, August 31, at 2 P.M. at the Fairview Methodist church at Main Station. The Rev. LaVern Smith of the Church of the Nazarene officiated. Burial was in the Fairview cemetery. Turner funeral home in charge. Pall bearers were grandsons, Carl Mericle, Doyle Mericle, Max Wren, Francis Wren, Rex Foster and Forrest Purvis. Singers were Mr. and Mrs. Frank Woodward accompanied by Karen Warren.
