Description	:	Gerd E. Behrens died Saturday, June 12, 1954, in Veterans hospital at Lincoln where he had been since June 7. His age was 62 years, 11 months and 8 days. Gerd E. Behrens son of Jacob E. and Florrie Behrens nee Huls, was born in Cheaten, Ill. on July 4, 1891. He was baptized the following day by Rev. Fred Alpers. Behrens died Saturday, June 12, 1954, in Veterans hospital at Lincoln where he had been since June 7. His age was 62 years, 11 months and 8 days. Gerd E. Behrens son of Jacob E. and Florrie Behrens nee Huls, was born in Cheaten, Ill. on July 4, 1891. He was baptized the following day by Rev. Fred Alpers. After due instruction he was confirmed on February 23, 1900 in the Lutheran Church near Bentley, Ill. by Rev. B. Geissler. With his parents he moved to Adams, Nebr. on March 4, 1906. On June 24, 2918 he was inducted into the army at Fort Riley, Kansas. He served overseas nine months at Lallare, France and was discharged on June 16, 1910. He married Marie Mahler in April of 1927 and one daughter, Ethel was born to them. She preceded her father in death. Mr. Behrens parents , three brothers, and one sister preceded him in death. For a number of years Mr. Behrens had made his home in Sterling. Survivors are three brothers, Ekke and Minert of Adams and Herman of Sterling; two sisters, Mrs. Gerd Franken of Lewiston and Anna Behrens of Adams; and a host of other relatives. Funeral services Tuesday afternoon, June 13 were conducted in the Immanuel Lutheran Church east of Adams, the Rev. C. A. Reimnliz in charge. Mrs. Edgar Weyers and Mrs. Jurgen Harms sang, accompanied by Mrs. Ralph Bentzinger. Burial was in St. John's Lutheran cemetery near Sterling. Pallbearers were nephews : Urban, Arnold, Harvey, and Leon Behrens, Minert and Louis Franken. The American Legion was in charge of millitary services at the grave.
