Gertrude Hoft was born at Prince, Germany March 26, 1862 and on Nov. 25, 1882 was married to John Danner at Kensting, Germany. Shortly after their marriage, the couple came to the United States and settled on a farm near Mount Carmel in Carroll county. They lived there until 11 years ago, when they came to Carroll and located, in their present home on north West street. Mrs. Danner is survived by her husband and eight children: Mrs. Phillip Schleisman of Lidderdale, Mrs. Frank Olerich of Auburn, Miss Mary Danner at home, John Danner, Jr., and Ben Danner of Maple River, Joe Danner at home, Mrs. H.M. Johnson and Mrs. Fred Osterholt of Carroll. She also leaves two brothers: Joe Hoft in North Dakota, John Hoft of Lake City, a sister still living on the home place in Germany and 25 grandchildren. She has been in ill health for about 5 years and when pneumonia set in a week ago, the disease was too much for her frail strength and she died Saturday at ten minutes past 9 in her home on North West street. She was 67 years old. Mrs. Danner was a devout member of Ss. Peter and Paul's church and died well fortified with the last sacraments of the church.
