Funeral held at 3 p.m today from Weston Behner Funeral Home Mrs. Gertrude Ida Gilchrist, 76, long time resident of Fairfield passed away Saturday evening about 4:30 p.m. at her home, 802 South Fifth Street, after a serious illness of two weeks. Funeral services were held this afternoon at 3:00 p.m. from the Weston Behner funeral home. Rev. George Reichert officiated. Burial was in the Fairfield Cemetery. She was born May 9, 1865 in Carrol County, Illinois. She was united in marriage to William Gilchrist on October 9, 1884. She was a member of the Church of Brethren, and had lived in this community for over 50 years. She is survived by the following children; Mrs. Lulu Moore, Coffey, Missouri; Mrs. Letitia Boyd, Fort Collins, Colorado; Mrs. Ethel Rice, Boise, Idaho; Mrs. Louise Mahoney, Takoma Park, Maryland; Miss Laura and Park Gilchrist at home; Adolph Gilchrist, Jackson, Michigan; and Leslie Gilchrist, Detroit, Michigan. Her husband preceded her in death. Mrs. Gilchrist also leaves the following brothers and sisters; Mrs. Susie Hodge, Gainsville, Florida; Mrs. Alma Kilmer, Fort Lauderdale, Florida; Charles Slifer, Conneant, Ohio; and Theodore Slifer, Abilene, Kansas.
