Darrel Hoffmaster officiating. Gertrude Lucille Belcher, youngest daughter of James and Sue Ann Belcher, was born on a farm near Rosendale, Mo., May 13, 1900. She died March 6, 1918, at the age of 80 years, 9 months and 21 days. At a very early age both her parents died. She came to Kansas in 1916 and made her home with her sister, Dolly Yenni. On December 18, 1918, she was united in marriage to Willis Harper and they took up housekeeping on the old Ott homestead. To this union one son was born, Harland Harper of Salina, Kans. They made their home on the farm until Willis died in March of 1953. Following his death Gertie worked in restaurants and cafes in Glasco, Downs and Concordia. In 1962 she was united in marriage to Alvin Wilson of Coffeyville, Kans. He died in 1965. Gertie than made her home in the hotel in Minneapolis, Kans., from 1965 to 1980. She entered the Nicol Nursing Home, Glasco, in January, 1980. There cannot be enough said about the Nicol Home for care and friendliness. She enjoyed her last year visiting with friends that she knew from years ago. She leaves to mourn her passing, her son, Harland and his wife Marcelyn, two grandchildren, Vicki Pucket and husband Larry, McPherson, and Rick Harper, Ellsworth, Kans. Three great-granddaughters, Rebecca, Rachelle and RaDonna Pucket, McPherson. Also nieces, nephews and friends. Gertie will be missed from community circles and family gatherings and shall always be remembered by the family. Pallbearers were Johnnie Jones, Bruce McClellan, Lorn Schmidt, William Cool, Robert Beck, Boyd Chapman. Organist was Virginia Halderson and soloist was Dean Porter. Interment was in the Glasco Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Nicol Home, Glasco.
