EBERHARDT Gertrude Margurite McKinney, daughter of Alexander and Ann Reynolds McKinney, was born in Carleton, Nebr., Nov. 3, 1882. She died at St. Joseph's Hospital in Concordia, June 10, 1968, at the age of 85. As a child she lived in Carleton, Nebr., and Colby and Webber, Kan. She was married to Duke McFaden of Carleton in the early years of this century. Gertrude McFaden first came to the Glasco community in 1914 as teacher of the Fairview rural school. Following two years in Washington, D.C., she returned to Glasco upon her marriage to John H. Eberhardt, January 30, 1921. One son, John Lawrence, was born to this union. She was a school teacher for nearly twenty-five years, between 1899 and 1917 and from 1942 to 1949. She taught in Carleton, Nebr., and Concordia, Kans., and in several rural school districts in Jewell, Republic and Cloud Counties. Gertrude Eberhardt participated in various community activities in Glasco. She was an active member of the Sunflower Study Club for many years. A devoted member of the Glasco Methodist Church, she taught the Plus Ultra Sunday School class for over three decades. She was a charter member of the Women's Society of Christian Service. Her three brothers and four sisters preceded her in death. Her survivors include her husband, John H. Eberhardt of Glasco, a son John L. Eberhardt of Reno, Nev.; a step-son and his wife, Virgil and Eunice Eberhardt of Littleton, Colo.; two granddaughters, Barbara Eberhardt of Westminster, Colo.; and Carole Brentow of Littleton, Colo.; two great-granddaughters, Jill and Gayle Brentow, also of Littleton; a half-sister, Dorothy Holloway of Phoenix, Ariz., and several nephews and nieces. Funeral services were held at the Glasco United Methodist Church, June 13, 1968, with Dr. C.R. Findley of Concordia officiating. Interment was in the Glasco Cemetery. Pallbearers were Ray Ball, Jere Demars, Jack Jordan, Dick Louthan and Stanley Plush, all of Glasco, and C.R. Edwards of Hardy, Nebr. Music was provided by Bernece Harper and Nona Harper with Nadine Teasley at the organ. The Dean Funeral Home of Glasco was in charge of arrangements.
