Gladys Starr, the little eleven-year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Starr, residing in Waverly, died this morning at 6:00 o'clock in Presbyterian hospital in this city. The little girl's death came after an operation for the removal of tumor of the larynx, from which she had suffered for several weeks. She was brought to Waterloo a few days ago for treatment and yesterday afternoon submitted to an operation to remove the obstruction from the throat. She never revived, but passed away this morning at the hour stated above. Her father and mother came to Waterloo with her and watched at the bedside of the little daughter all night until death relieved her of her suffering. An autopsy was held over the remains this morning in the Towns undertaking rooms on West Fourth street, and it was learned that the cause of death was papilloma of larynx, trachea and bronchi. Mr. Starr, the father of the little girl, is engaged in business in Waverly, and the family is known by a large number of people residing in Waterloo. She was the only daughter, and her death will be keenly felt by the sorrowing parents. The little girl had suffered throat trouble for several years and had seen but few well days the four years preceding her death. Two years ago she was operated upon in this city for throat trouble, and the growth was but a return of the former complaint. The remains were prepared for burial and were taken to the home in Waverly this morning, leaving Waterloo at 10:30 o'clock over the Illinois Central. Added by Richard Creger
