Description	:	Gladys Ruth (Caton) Benway, eldest daughter of Clarence and Mary (Van Patten) Caton, was born November 27, 1907, at Grafton, Neb. She died in Lincoln, Neb., February 14, 1970, aged 62 years, 2 months and 18 days. She was united in marriage to Floyd Benway, February 27, 1929. A daughter, Mary Darlene, was born to them. She died in Lincoln, Neb., February 14, 1970, aged 62 years, 2 months and 18 days. She was united in marriage to Floyd Benway, February 27, 1929. A daughter, Mary Darlene, was born to them. They resided in Fairmont. Her daughter and husband and her father preceded her in death. Gladys was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ, Geneva. She worked in Geneva several years. After leaving here, she took care of elderly people in Colorado and more recently at Beatrice, Neb., where she resided until her death. She was visiting in Lincoln with her brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. David Fox, when death occurred. She leaves to mourn her death, her mother, Mrs. Mary Caton of Geneva,; four sisters, Mrs. Ben Isler (Daisy) of LeRoy, Minn., Mrs. Marvin Rice (Ddorothy) of Norwood, O., Mrs. David Fox (Phyllis) of Lincoln and Mrs. Mervell Bumgarner (Betty) of Strang; five brothers, Frank Caton of Laton, Col, Ralph Canton of Portland, Ore., Winifred Caton of Harvard, Paul Caton of Beatrice and Donnie Paul Caton in the United States Navy; four brothers-in-law; four sisters-in-law; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. Funeral services were held at the Fritner-Farmer Funeral Home in Geneva Wednesday, February 18, at 2 p.m. Rev. Delano Spitzer officiating. Charlotte and Carolyn Bumgarner sang "Rock of Ages" and "In the Garden". Sharon Bumgarner was accompanist. Pallbearers were Tom Bumgarner, Lynn Caton, Scott Caton, Ron Fox, Virgil ? (unable to read last name) and Gary Simpson. Interment was in the Grafton Cemetery. The Nebraska Signal February 26th, 1970 page 5.
