Description	:	Clarence W. Canton, son of John and Martha Smith Caton, was born at Dorchester, Neb., December 14, 1887. He died in his home in Geneva, Neb., after a lingering illness, November 27, 1961, at the age of 73 years, 11 months and 13 days. Clarence grew to manhood and attended school at Dorchester. He was united in marriage to Mary Van Patton of Grafton at Geneva in 1907. To this union were born five sons and five daughters. Canton, son of John and Martha Smith Caton, was born at Dorchester, Neb., December 14, 1887. He died in his home in Geneva, Neb., after a lingering illness, November 27, 1961, at the age of 73 years, 11 months and 13 days. Clarence grew to manhood and attended school at Dorchester. He was united in marriage to Mary Van Patton of Grafton at Geneva in 1907. To this union were born five sons and five daughters. Clarence was a plasterer and brick mason by trade and worked very hard all his life, until prevented from doing so by ill health. Clarence was preceded in death by his parents and by an infant daughter, Tina Faye; two brothers and two sisters. He leaves his wife, Mary; his children; Gladys Benway of Geneva; Franklin of Eden, Col.; Winfred of Harvard, Neb., Dorothy Rice of Norwood O., Daisy Fifer of LeRoy, Minn.; Ralph of Salem, Ore.; Phyllis Fox of Lincoln, Paul of Geneva; Betty Lou Bumgarner of Strang and Donnie Paul of Washington D.C.; 22 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren;four sisters; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at the Kritner-Farmer Funeral Home in Geneva at 2 p.m. Thursday, November 30, Rev. Robert J. Kasper officiating. Mrs. Gerald Pickerell sang "In the Garden" and "The Old Rugged Cross," accompanied by Mrs. Willard Foster. Pallbearers were Arvene Caton, Duane Fifer, Marvin Fifer, Howard Foster, Ron Fox and Gary Simpson. Interment was in the Grafton Cemetery. The Nebraska Signal December 7th, 1961 page 15. Father.
