Hornaday and Shirley M. Shimer Hornaday. His mother, Shirley M.(Shimer) (Hornaday) DeLong, survives in Lima. On Aug. 26, 1995, he married Betty S. Hershey Claypool (Born May 6, 1955), who survives. Mr. DeLong was a retired supervisor at T.E.C.C.T. (formerly Textron). He was a member of Lima Seventh Day Adventist Church. DeLong of Lima; six sisters, Judith A (Harold) Nickles of Lima, Jeannie (Charles) Inmon of Kenton, Carol J. (Randy) Vann and Cathy E. (Jim) Westenberger of Broadway, Va., Jan J. Agler of Van Wert and Tami J. (John) McCoy of Lima; first wife, Sylvia “Sue” Shafer of Cairo, and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Ralph A. DeLong, 88, died at 4:22 a.m. July 29, 2013, at St. Rita's Medical Center. She was born May 25, 1925, in Indianapolis to George P. and Queen V. Brubaker Shimer, who preceded her in death. On Aug. 19, 1940, she married Glen L. Hornaday, who preceded her in death. On Nov. 29, 1952, she married Ralph A. DeLong Sr., who preceded her in death on November 25, 2005, he was born June 11, 1933 the son of Cliff DeLong (1884 - 1959) and Hazel (Fife) (Fife On) DeLong (1888 - 1949). Mrs. DeLong was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and Bible worker. She was a member of Seventh Day Adventist Church, where she held several offices. She was a prayer warrior for Three Angels Broadcasting Network. Survivors include 11 children, Judy A. (Harold) Nickles, of Lima, Jeannie Harp, of Kenton, Ronald G. (Beverly) Hornaday, of Martinsville, Ind., Carol J. (Randy) Vann and Cathy E. (Jim) Westenberger, both of Broadway, Va., Kenny P. Hornaday, of Kenton, Janice J. (Don) Agler Crismond, of Collinsville, Okla., Ralph A. (Hope) DeLong Jr., of Cridersville, Pastor Steve A. (Susan) DeLong, of Bloomfield, Ind. and Rocklin, CA, and Tami J. (John) McCoy and Kelley L. DeLong, both of Lima; 33 grandchildren; 60 great-grandchildren; 23 great-great-grandchildren; three siblings, Paul N. (Alyce) Shimer, of Lebanon, Corrinne A. McAffey, of Reading, and Donald Shimer, of Cincinnati; and several nieces, nephews, church family and friends. She was preceded in death by a son, Glen L. DeLong; three brothers, James W., Richard L. and Douglas Shimer; and a sister, Paula J. Longmore. Services will begin at 2 p.m. Thursday at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Shawnee Chapel. (DELONG) YOUNG OBITUARY: Beatrice P.(DeLong)(Blank) Young, age 96, of Northwood, Ohio, passed away on Monday, April 24, 2006, at Heatherdowns Care Center. She was born on August 17, 1909, in Van Wert, Ohio, to Cliff and Hazel (Fife) DeLong. Beatrice had worked as a dairy clerk for Kroger Co. for 22 years, retiring in 1973. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Griffis Franklin Blank in June of 1949 (Find a grave memorial #34147897) and Arden C. Young in 1968 (Find A Grave Memorial# 161463394); brother, Ralph DeLong and step daughter, Ardith L. (Young) Hernandez (Find A Grave Memorial# 161462522). Surviving are her sons, Richard (Dolores) Blank of Toledo and Bud (Sharon) Blank of Maumee. Also surviving are 9 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren. Family and friends may visit at the Sujkowski Funeral Home of Rossford on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Doran Brown officiating.
