Phelps had passed from the earth life at Concordia, Kan., on the evening before. Mr. Phelps had been feeling poorly for the past two or three years but made no complaint until about a month ago and no one was aware of the very serious conditions existing until they were discovered at the hospital where he went for examination on March 13. Phelps Passed Away Saturday This community was greatly shocked and grieved last Sunday when it became generally known that Guy O. Phelps had passed from the earth life at Concordia, Kan., on the evening before. Mr. Phelps had been feeling poorly for the past two or three years but made no complaint until about a month ago and no one was aware of the very serious conditions existing until they were discovered at the hospital where he went for examination on March 13. An immediate operation was found imperative and this was performed on March 15. No hope of permanent recovery could be given but it was thought that possibly he might rally suffieiently (sic) to return home. As soon as train service permitted, his wife hastened to his bedside and remained with him to the end. Mrs. Phelps' brother Ralph Tooker, went to Superior last Saturday afternoon in response to a phone message that he was failing and as soon as he could get a train out he went on to Concordia and came home with his sister. Dr F. M. Harbaugh and wife, James McGhie, J. G. Walley, Will Breckenridge, Howard Musiek and Clarence Adams met them at Superior Sunday afternoon and the body was brought back to the home he had left less than two weeks before with the prospect of a long life before him. His wife, parents and brothers have the deepest sympathy of their many friends in their ***kable sorrow. Mrs. W. J. Black of Hastings, a sister of Mr. J.H. Phelps arrived Sunday morning and remained until after the funeral. Word was sent to San Francisco to the three brothers living there. The funeral services were held in the Methodist Church on Wednesday at 2:30 o'clock ,March 28, Rev William Boyers preaching the sermon. The Masonic order had charge of the services at the cemetery.
