Bryan Press 2 May 1929 Pg 8 Bryan Press 16 May 1929 Pg 8 Col 12 After an illness of some weeks, Mrs. Hannah Pollock aged 84 years, 5 months 6 days passed away Sunday morning at the home of her eldest daughter, Mrs. J. S. (Anna) Chamberlin, at Ney, OH. Mrs. Pollock has resided with this daughter for seventeen years. Hannah Elizabeth Pollock, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Fritz, was born in Butler County. Ohio, November 22, 1844. At the age of 8, in 1852, she moved with her parents to Defiance County and settled in Farmer Township. On January 5, 1871 she was united in marriage to Abner B. Pollock, to this union was born three children, Mrs. J.S. (Anna) Chamberlin, Mrs. J.W. (Mary) Garber, and Charles H. Pollock, all living in Ney, OH. The family moved the Ney area in Washington Township, fifty-five years ago and spent the greater part of the time on their farm south east of town on the Junction Rd.. Nineteen years ago Mr. and Mrs. Pollock moved into the village of Ney; two years later the husband departed this life 7 Nov 1912, aged 72. Besides the three children mentioned, she is survived by a step son, W.F. Pollock of Springfield, OH, a sister Mrs. C. E. (Barbara) Bercaw of Edgerton, a brother John Fritz of Farmer, 10 grand children, 17 great grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends. At the age of twenty she was converted, and for 64 years has not only been a faithful members of the Methodist church, but a consistent Christian. This christian character has been exemplified by her life of sacrifice and service and the spirit is well expressed in the poem entitled "Others." "Others Lord help me live from day to day. In such a self-forgetful way. That even when I kneel to pray. My prayer shall be for—--Others. Help me in all the work I do. To ever be sincere and true. And know that all I'd do for you. Most needs be done for---Others. Let "Self" be crucified and slain. And buried deep; and all in vain may efforts be to rise again. Unless to live for-—Others. And when my work on earth is done. And my new work in heaven's begun, may I forget the crown I've won. While thinking still of—--Others. The funeral services arranged for Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock, conducted by Rev. A. W. Caley, with interment at Ney. Services in the Methodist Church Card of Thanks We wish to sincerely thank all relatives, neighbors and friends for the splendid spirit of helpfulness shown us during the sickness and death of our mother.
