Smith, 66, of Alliance, who died Aug. 30, 1993, at the veterans home in Scottsbluff will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Western Nebraska Veterans Home Chapel in Scottsbluff with Rev. He graduated from Hazard High School in 1945. He enlisted in the U. S. Army on Sept. 27, 1945, and served during World War II as a maintenance mechanic in the Phillipines and Japan. After being honorably discharged on April 24, 1947, he worked for the C B & Q railroad in the communications department. He married Ruth H. Edwards March 18, 1978 at Pleasanton. The couple lived in Alliance since then. He was a member of the American Legion of Loup City, The Kearney Eagles Club, and was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association.
