He departed this life Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2008, at St. Johns St. Francis Hospital, Mountain View, Mo., at the age of 74 years. Harold's first 10 years of education were in Gurley, Neb., in the Lutheran, Bunker Hill and Gurley Schools. He graduated after his final two years of education from Sterling (Colorado) High School. Harold was united in marriage to Margaret Anna Weingardt on Oct. 31, 1954, at Saint Anthony's Church in Sterling, Colo. To this union, four children were born – Gary, Theresa, William and Daniel. Harold and his family moved from Sterling, Colo., in 1969 to Willow Springs, Mo. They lived on a cattle farm for 14 years. Later, in 1972, the last child, Daniel, was born. In 1982, Harold moved to Mountain View, Mo., to "scale back and settle down." He lived there until his death. Earlier in life, he enjoyed hunting, fast-pitch softball and being his own mechanic. Later on in life, he enjoyed raising his few head of Gelbvieh cattle. He loved his Gelbvieh cattle. But his one true love was being with and teasing his grandkids. Seven girls, with an age difference of just a few years, always meant that there were plenty of ponytails to be pulled or ribs to be tickled. In between taking care of the many needs of his own farm, Harold was also employed for many years at Sparks Farms Inc. and later on at Smith Flooring Inc. where he was considered a good helping hand. He was loved and will be missed by many. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Herbert and Martin Grosze; sisters, Agnes Ditsck, Edna Kraus and Leora Ault; and a grandson, Issac Grosze. Survivors include his wife, Margie; his children, Gary and wife, Terri, of Mountain View, Theresa of Mountain View, William and wife, Nancy, of Columbia, Ill., and Daniel of Springfield, Mo.; three sisters, Elnora Alber, Eunice Sperry, and Gladys Grosze; and eight grandchildren, Travis Osley, Michele Grosze, Lindsey Grosze, Audrey Grosze, Kristen Grosze, Hayleigh Grosze, Megan Smith and Sydney Grosze. Funeral services were held Monday, Dec. 1, 2008, in Yarber Mortuary with Pastor Edwin Woolsey officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Teresita, Mo., under the direction of Yarber Mortuary, Mountain View.
