Born March 2, 1948, in Kingwood, WV, he was the son of the late Paul Andrew and Roberta Ruth (Boice) Markley. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Lois Jennings; two brothers, Richard Markley and Paul Markley and by a grandson, Ryan white. Born March 2, 1948, in Kingwood, WV, he was the son of the late Paul Andrew and Roberta Ruth (Boice) Markley. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Lois Jennings; two brothers, Richard Markley and Paul Markley and by a grandson, Ryan white. Roger worked for the Department of Defense as the Senior Engineering Specialist. He went to Frostburg University before enlisting in the United States Army to serve in the Vietnam War. Roger was an avid reader, loved the outdoors and fishing, especially in his younger years. He is survived by his special lady, Sylvia Kuhn; five children; Connie Friend and husband, Scott, Danny Markley, Sr., Roberta Forney and husband, Jacob, Larry Streets and companion, Angie and Randy Streets and Companion, Barb; three sisters, Mitzi Dunn, Lucille Meredith, Roberta Kingsley and husband, William; twelve grandchildren, Justin Friend, Kirsten Friend and companion, Corey, Daniel Friend, Alicia Friend, Danny Markley, Jr. and fiancée, Kayla Brooke, Courtney Markley, Levi Forney, Roberta Grace Forney, Heather husband, Joey Berg, Brandon Streets, Zachary Streets, Hannah streets; nine great grandchildren, David, Laila, Hayden, Trenton, Mason, Aiden, Hadley, Brandon and Harper; a brother-in-law, Bud Jennings. Friends will be received at Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 1100 Memorial Dr., Oakland, MD 21550, on Monday October 4, 2021, from 10am to 12pm. Services will follow visitation at 12pm in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Scott Rush officiating. Interment will be at Taylor-Sines Cemetery, Oakland. Military honors will be accorded by the various veterans' organizations of Southern Garrett County.
